A mid-century modern kitchen concept designed for family life and entertaining

This design proposal reimagined the kitchen of a modern town-centre home, replacing an awkwardly positioned island with a more connected and sociable layout. The proposed C-shaped kitchen introduces a generous peninsula between the kitchen and living room, creating a natural division between the spaces while providing ample seating for family and guests.

Authentic dark oak veneer gives the cabinetry a rich mid-century modern character, complemented by reeded larder fronts and decorative brass Integra railing used as an elegant alternative to conventional handles. The dark oak is balanced by Dekton Bergen worktops and a full-height splashback behind the hob, creating a refined and cohesive material palette.

The kitchen combines this timeless material palette with advanced modern features, including a venting induction hob and a Quooker boiling water tap in patinated antique brass. An integrated appliance garage is concealed within the half-height larder unit in the corner, keeping everyday appliances close at hand without interrupting the clean lines of the design.

The result is a welcoming kitchen concept shaped around a modern family who enjoy hosting and entertaining, with generous seating, thoughtful storage and a more natural relationship between the kitchen and living areas.
