A kitchen designed for a young couple
Sophia and Joe’s newly renovated cottage called for a kitchen that would respect its traditional character while providing everything they needed for modern living. With a compact footprint and one partition wall removed to create a more generous space, the design focused on making the most of every available inch.
The result is a balanced and beautifully considered kitchen, combining timeless shaker cabinetry, thoughtful storage and practical working zones, without compromising on the details that make a cottage kitchen feel at home.

Design & Layout Highlights
Balanced symmetry: Carefully proportioned cabinetry runs align with the architecture of the cottage, creating a cohesive and well-organised layout.
Zoned functionality: A dedicated cooking zone with hob, ovens and integrated fridge freezer is positioned opposite the island, which incorporates the Belfast sink, dishwasher, concealed bin and generous preparation space.
A practical island: A worktop overhang creates a breakfast bar with seating, providing a place for casual meals and everyday conversation.
Smart storage: A dedicated pantry larder sits alongside the island, providing additional storage and keeping everyday essentials close at hand.

Materials & Finishes
Sink: A ceramic Belfast sink, bringing a classic cottage detail to the practical wash up zone.
Cabinetry: Solid wood frame Shaker cabinetry, painted in a neutral limestone shade with a contrasting olive green island.
Worktops: Dekton Khalo, chosen for its striking stone-inspired pattern and bold veining.
Cottage details: Tongue-and-groove panelling on the island, main run side and pantry, complemented by decorative curved cornices and traditional external plinths.
